How do we know that Christ is the mediator between God and man?

Answered in 3 sources

Scripture asserts that Christ is the one mediator, as stated in 1 Timothy 2:5, affirming His unique role in reconciling humanity to God.

1 Timothy 2:5 states, 'For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.' This verse establishes the exclusive role of Jesus Christ as the mediator who reconciles sinful humanity to a holy God. Unlike the priesthood of the Old Testament, which provided temporary atonement, Christ’s mediatorial work is complete and effective, as He offers Himself—a perfect sacrifice for sin—once for all. His unique nature as both fully God and fully man equips Him to stand in the gap, representing God to humanity and humanity to God. This truth is foundational for understanding not only the nature of redemption but also the assurance that we have in Christ’s finished work.
