How do we know that Christ is the source of our rest?

Answered in 1 source

We know Christ is the source of our rest through His dual nature as both God and man, fulfilling promises in Scripture.

The assurance that Christ is the source of our rest stems from His identity as the God-man, as depicted in Isaiah 11 and affirmed in the New Testament. Isaiah depicts Him as the 'root of Jesse,' emphasizing His eternal nature as God while also being the offspring that came forth historically. In John 3:14, Jesus likens Himself to the serpent lifted up by Moses, signifying that just as those who looked to the serpent in faith were healed, so too those who look to Christ as their Ensign will find eternal rest and healing. Therefore, the spiritual rest offered by Christ is rooted in His divine authority and sacrificial love. His eternal victory over sin and death secures for His people a glorious and lasting rest that is universal and given to those who believe.
