How do we know that Christ is truly in us?

Answered in 1 source

We know Christ is in us through self-examination of our faith and acknowledgment of our total dependence on Him for salvation.

In 2 Corinthians 13:5, Paul exhorts believers to examine themselves to determine if Christ is in them. This self-examination involves recognizing our total inability and the absence of good within ourselves, as stated in Romans 3:10-12. Genuine faith produces a consciousness of our sinfulness and a reliance on Christ's grace for salvation. When believers see their sin and look to Christ for redemption, it gives evidence of His presence in their hearts. Furthermore, trusting in His sovereignty and the ability to transform lives reassures us that our faith is authentic and not counterfeit.
