How do we know that Christ must suffer and rise again?

Answered in 2 sources

We know that Christ must suffer according to the Scriptures, which prophesied His death and resurrection.

The necessity of Christ's suffering and resurrection is rooted in the fulfillment of Scripture. Paul reasoned in Acts 17:3, stating that 'Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead.' This fulfills the prophetic insights spanning from the Old Testament, where the sacrificial system prefigured Christ's atonement for sin. The justice of God requires that sin be paid for, and Christ's sacrifice provides that payment. Thus, without His suffering and subsequent resurrection, the entire message of the gospel, including the hope of salvation, is undermined. This demonstrated the sovereign plan of redemption orchestrated by God, affirming that Christ is indeed the central figure of the Scriptures.
