How do we know that Christ's atoning death is essential?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's atoning death is essential because it perfectly satisfies the justice of God, allowing for the salvation of sinners.

Christ's necessity to die is a central theme in the Bible. As stated in the sermon, God's holiness demands justice for sin, and the only way to satisfy that justice is through the sacrificial death of Jesus (1 Peter 2:24). His death as our substitute is crucial; without it, God cannot be just and still justify sinners. The crux of Christian theology rests upon this doctrine, for if one denies the necessity of Christ's death, they undermine the very foundation of the gospel and the grace of God offered to humanity.
