How do we know that Christ's compassion is genuine?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's compassion is evident through his care for both the spiritual and physical needs of those who follow him.

The compassion of Christ is demonstrated through his actions as he tended to the needs of the multitude, who had been with him for three days without food. Despite knowing many in the crowd were hypocrites, Jesus was moved with compassion for their predicament (Mark 8:2-3). His tenderness and care reveal a Savior who considers the struggles of his followers. This compassion is especially directed towards his elect, promising that those who seek him will not lack any good thing (Psalm 34:10). Our Lord's compassion reassures us that he will provide for our needs as we follow him.
