How do we know that Christ's death is not for everyone?

Answered in 1 source

The Scriptures do not suggest that Christ's sacrifice was intended for all individuals without exception.

Biblical passages clarify that the significance of Christ's death pertains specifically to the elect chosen by God. For instance, in Romans 5:18, Paul emphasizes that the judgment resulting from one man's offense affected all mankind, but the resulting gift of grace was for all who are in Christ. Additionally, 1 Timothy 2:4 and John 10:15 highlight that Christ is the mediator and sacrifice for those who believe, underscoring that His redemptive purpose is intentional and particular rather than universal. The Scriptures consistently point out that while God desires all to hear the gospel, the salvific effect of Christ's death is reserved for the elect alone.
