How do we know that Christ's death was sufficient for atonement?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's death is sufficient for atonement because it was the complete and perfect sacrifice for our sins, fulfilling the requirements of God's justice.

The sufficiency of Christ's death is rooted in its nature as a perfect sacrifice. Hebrews 9:26 states that Christ, 'has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.' This signifies that His one act of atonement covers all the sins of His people, as He bore the weight of God’s wrath. Additionally, in Romans 3:25, it is pointed out that God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of His blood, to be received by faith. Only through accepting this sacrificial atonement by faith can a believer be justified before God, thus affirming the truth of the gospel message which promises that Christ's work on the cross is fully adequate for salvation.
