How do we know that Christ's goodness extends to us?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's goodness extends to us as He provides the righteousness we lack, making us accepted before God.

The greatness of Christ's goodness is highlighted in His confession that 'My goodness extendeth not unto thee' in Psalm 16, acknowledging that while His righteousness is perfect, it does not add to God’s glory. Instead, it is intended for the saints—those who believe in Him. This reflects the Reformed understanding that our righteousness comes solely from Christ. He lived a sinless life and fulfilled the law perfectly, providing the righteousness we need to stand before God. The extension of His goodness to us underlines the essence of the gospel: His sacrifice secures our position as righteous before God so that we, as sinners saved by grace, can enter into His kingdom and fellowship with Him. Therefore, our acceptance and identity as saints rely completely on Christ's work, not on our merit.
