How do we know that Christ's priesthood is necessary?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's priesthood is essential because, without it, sinful man cannot approach a holy God.

The necessity of Christ's priesthood lies in the fact that no man can stand before God due to sin and corruption. Romans 3:23 states that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, creating an insurmountable divide. Job expressed the need for a mediator who could reconcile God and man, conveying a universal truth that without Christ’s priestly role, humans are banished from God, leading to eternal separation. The fulfillment of this need is found in Jesus who meets the requirements as the one who neared to God yet also bore our sins, effectively reconciling us to the Father through His perfect sacrifice.
