How do we know that Christ's righteousness is credited to believers?

Answered in 2 sources

Christ's righteousness is imputed to believers based on His perfect obedience and sacrifice, fulfilling the law on their behalf.

In the sermon, it is underscored that Christ served as the surety and substitute for His people, taking upon Himself their sin and guilt. This is known as imputation, where the sin of believers is charged to Christ, and conversely, His righteousness is credited to them. Romans 4:5 states that God justifies the ungodly, and that justification is based solely on faith in Christ's completed work. Thus, believers stand righteous before God, not because of their works, but solely because of Christ’s obedience and sacrificial death.
