How do we know that Christ's sacrifice cleanses us from sin?

In 1 John 1:7, it states that the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. John reassures believers that their standing before God is based not on their own righteousness, but fundamentally on the sacrifice of Christ. This truth is further solidified by the promise that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Therefore, our assurance of cleansing and forgiveness lies in the faithful character of God and the finished work of Christ, thus granting us confidence in our salvation.
