How do we know that Christ's sacrifice is for us?

Answered in 1 source

We know Christ's sacrifice is for us because He is the propitiation for our sins, meant specifically for those who believe.

In 1 John 2:2, it states that Christ is the propitiation not only for our sins but also for the sins of the whole world, which is understood to refer to believers from every nation and people. This propitiation indicates that Christ satisfied the wrath of God on behalf of those whom the Father has chosen to redeem. Thus, by faith, we can be assured of Christ's sacrificial death being specifically applied to us, confirming our relationship with God. Additionally, understanding that His sacrifice was for elect believers helps clarify the extent of His atonement and strengthens our assurance in God's redemptive purpose.
