How do we know that Christ's sacrifice justifies us?

Answered in 2 sources

We know Christ's sacrifice justifies us because He bore our sins and was punished in our place, allowing us to be declared righteous.

The assurance of our justification through Christ's sacrifice comes from understanding the doctrine of substitution. 2 Corinthians 5:21 states that Christ was made sin for us, even though He knew no sin, so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. This transference of guilt means that when Christ died, He bore our iniquities as prophesied in Isaiah 53:5. The blood of Christ reconciles us to God, establishing our justification (Colossians 1:20). Thus, Christ's perfect obedience and sacrificial death render us not guilty, providing surety of our justification in God's eyes.
