How do we know that Christ's sacrifice was necessary for our salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's sacrifice was necessary to satisfy the justice of God and to redeem His people from their sins.

The necessity of Christ's sacrifice stems from the nature of God who is both just and merciful. It is clear from the Word that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22). This is echoed in Romans 3:26, where it articulates that God is both just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Thus, Christ came to fulfill all righteousness as our sin offering, to uphold the justice of God while redeeming those chosen in Him. His role as a substitute was imperative for our justification before God, making it evident that Jesus had to suffer and die to reconcile us to the Father.
