How do we know that Christ saves on His terms?

Answered in 1 source

Christ saves individuals who come to Him recognizing their need as sinners and acknowledging His lordship.

Throughout the Gospels, we find that Jesus consistently rebuffed those who approached him with conditions or expectations based on their own achievements or backgrounds. For example, in the parable of the Pharisee and the publican (Luke 18), it's evident that the publican, who recognized his sinfulness and cried out for mercy, returned justified. Similarly, the thief on the cross acknowledged his guilt and called out to Jesus as Lord. Thus, the consistent theme is that salvation is extended to those who come empty-handed, acknowledging their unworthiness and acknowledging Christ as their sovereign savior. This reflects the sovereign grace that defines true faith.
