How do we know that Christ will protect His followers?

In Luke 21:18, Jesus declares, 'but not a hair of your head shall perish.' This promise cannot be taken literally, as many believers have faced physical death throughout history. Instead, it emphasizes that while believers may suffer in this life, their true selves—soul and eternal life—are secure in Christ. No earthly suffering can separate them from His love, as outlined in Romans 8:38-39, which speaks to the inviolable bond between Christ and His followers. Thus, believers can have confidence in the ultimate protection of their eternal souls even amidst temporal suffering.
