How do we know that Christians are free from sin's power?

Answered in 1 source

Christians are free from the power of sin because they are no longer under the condemnation of the law but are justified by grace (Romans 6:14).

The certainty of Christians' freedom from sin's power stems from their justification through faith in Christ. Romans 6:14 states, 'For sin shall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under the law, but under grace.' This succinctly summarizes the liberation believers experience. Before conversion, believers were slaves to sin, and sin reigned in their lives without opposition. The moment they are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, they receive a new nature that enables them to reject sin's authority. The law's power to condemn is overcome by Christ's perfect obedience and sacrifice; thus, believers can know they are free and justified, as God has declared them righteous.
