How do we know that Christians are to forgive one another?

The Scripture instructs Christians to forgive one another as a reflection of the forgiveness they have received from Christ. In Colossians 3:13, Paul urges believers to forbear and forgive one another, stating, 'If any man have a quarrel against any, even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.'
