How do we know that Christians should avoid participating in idolatry?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible clearly instructs believers to avoid any appearance of worshiping idols to maintain the purity of worship.

Paul teaches that participation in idolatrous practices can send a wrong message about our loyalty to Christ. He argues that even if one's heart does not intend to worship an idol, the act can appear as endorsement to observers, thereby misconstruing the believer's faith. In 1 Corinthians 10:20-21, Paul asserts that offerings to idols are ultimately sacrifices to demons, indicating that any engagement with idolatry is spiritually dangerous. Thus, Christians are called to avoid any behavior that may confuse others regarding the supremacy of Christ, reaffirming that our allegiance lies firmly with Him alone.
