How do we know that earthly riches are temporary?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that earthly riches are fleeting and cannot bring true satisfaction or eternal value.

Earthly riches are depicted in scripture as temporary and ultimately unfulfilling. In Mark 8:36, Jesus poses the question, 'What shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?' This illustrates the transitory nature of material wealth when contrasted with the eternal significance of one's soul. The wicked may appear to prosper now, but their ultimate end is destruction as noted in Psalm 73:18-20, highlighting the folly of placing value on fleeting worldly things rather than on enduring spiritual truths.
