How do we know that election is true in the context of the Good Shepherd?

Answered in 1 source

Election is affirmed in the context of the Good Shepherd as it illustrates God's sovereign choice in bringing His sheep to recognize their need for Him.

Election, in the biblical sense, is not about God arbitrarily choosing some for salvation while rejecting others. Instead, it reveals His grace in making men aware of their need for a shepherd, as expressed in the sermon. Those who are elected by God find themselves in a position of recognizing their own helplessness and the necessity of divine guidance. This election makes it possible for us to cry out, 'I need a shepherd,' and find our hope and security in Christ, who fulfills that role perfectly.
