How do we know that faith is central to loving God?

In 1 John 5:3, John reiterates that the love of God is keeping His commandments, and these commandments are not burdensome. Throughout the New Testament, especially in 1 John, we see that believing on Christ is equated with loving God. Christ’s command is to abide in Him, as highlighted in John 15:4, and it is this abiding relationship that empowers us to live out our faith and love both God and our brethren. This reflects historic Reformed theology, emphasizing that true love arises from faith and dependence on Christ alone, as He is the source of our love and obedience.
