How do we know that faith is the one thing needful for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Faith is the only means by which God's grace is received, as stated in Ephesians 2:8-9, where salvation is through faith, not works.

Faith is crucial because it is the sole avenue through which we receive God's grace. Ephesians 2:8-9 makes it clear: 'For by grace you are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.' This reflects the belief that salvation is entirely dependent upon God's faithfulness to His promises rather than any human effort. The emphasis placed on faith in this context underscores its necessity for salvation, where believers are called to trust wholly in Christ as their righteousness.
