How do we know that forgiveness is important for resisting the devil?

Answered in 1 source

Forgiveness is vital because it prevents Satan from gaining a foothold in our lives and relationships.

According to 2 Corinthians 2:10-11, forgiving others is essential to keeping Satan from having an advantage over us. When we hold onto unforgiveness, we open doors for bitterness, division, and strife, which can weaken our testimony and spiritual stance against the enemy. Instead, by extending the same forgiveness we have received from Christ, we maintain unity and effectively resist the devil's schemes. This divine cycle emphasizes that understanding and practicing forgiveness is a true reflection of the gospel and essential in our spiritual battles.
