How do we know that forgiveness of sins is possible?

The forgiveness of sins is possible because of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. He, being the sinless and spotless Lamb of God, offered Himself as a sacrifice, fully satisfying the law and justice of God on our behalf. Just as the Israelites were commanded to release their debtors, so does God, through Christ, release us from the overwhelming debt of sin we cannot repay. Our position as forgiven sinners hinges upon our faith in Christ and His redemptive sacrifice. The scripture assures us that through His blood, we are forgiven and can stand justified before God, as seen in passages such as Galatians 3:22-26.
