How do we know that God allows trials in our lives?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible indicates that God allows trials as a means to test and refine our faith, exemplified through Job's suffering.

The story of Job illustrates that trials and suffering can be a part of God's sovereign plan. In Job 1:6-12, we see that Satan presents himself before God, and it is God who points out Job's faithfulness. Rather than being arbitrary, the trials that Job faced were permitted by God for a higher purpose: to demonstrate the integrity of Job's faith. This is consistent with other Scriptures that tell us that trials produce perseverance and ultimately lead to spiritual maturity (James 1:2-4). Romans 5:3-5 similarly teaches that suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope, suggesting that God's allowances in trials serve to refine and strengthen our faith in Him.
