How do we know that God calls men to preach?

Answered in 2 sources

God calls men to preach through the affirmation of the local church and the moving of the Holy Spirit, as shown in Acts 13.

The calling of men to preach is primarily recognized through the local church's affirmation. In Acts 13, we see the Holy Spirit setting apart Paul and Barnabas for the work of the gospel through the church at Antioch. God’s people, the church, are often the first to recognize a man’s gifting and calling before the individual himself realizes it. This reinforces the principle that true ministers do not self-appoint but are sent by God through His church, supported by the prayers and recognition of the congregation. As noted in 1 Timothy 3:1, the aspiration to the office of a bishop is a noble pursuit, yet it is ultimately the church's discernment that validates a man's call.
