How do we know that God corrects His children?

Answered in 1 source

We know God corrects His children because Hebrews 12:6 explains that whom the Lord loves, He chastens.

Scripture affirms that God's correction of His children is a sign of His love. In Hebrews 12:5-6, it states, 'My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him. For whom the Lord loveth, he chasteneth.' This chastisement serves not as punishment for sin but as an act of love to guide His children back to righteousness. A child of God longs for this guidance, understanding that it is part of their relationship with God. Without correction, the relationship would lack the structure necessary for growth and maturity in faith.
