How do we know that God does not forsake His people?

Answered in 2 sources

God's Word affirms that He will not forsake His people because it pleases Him to make them His own.

In 1 Samuel 12:22, Samuel confidently declares that 'the Lord will not forsake his people for his great namesake.' This promise is based on God's character—He is unchanging and faithful. Furthermore, the New Covenant reinforces this idea, where God pledges to not turn away from His people and to instill His fear within their hearts, ensuring they do not depart from Him (Jeremiah 32:40). This underscores that God's choice to make us His people is not predicated on our actions or worthiness but solely on His sovereign grace and divine will.
