How do we know that God enables us to obey His commands?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture affirms that God commands obedience but also provides the power to fulfill those commands through His grace.

The assurance that God enables obedience is woven throughout Scripture. For example, Philippians 2:13 states, 'For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.' This illustrates that the very desires and abilities to obey God’s commands are gifts of His grace. Without this divine assistance, obedience would be impossible. It is a central tenet of sovereign grace theology that God does not demand from us what He does not empower us to perform, showcasing His compassionate and perfect nature.
