How do we know that God gives us a new will in Christ?

Answered in 1 source

We know that God gives us a new will because it enables us to willingly come to Christ for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9).

The assurance that God gives us a new will can be found in the transformation that occurs when one is brought from death to life. This new will is characterized by a readiness and desire to respond to the Gospel. As noted in the sermon, Jesus stated that 'no man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him' (John 6:44). This drawing is indicative of the new will that God imparts to believers, freeing them from their previous bondage to sin and self. Moreover, when God illuminates the heart with the understanding of His grace, the believer is compelled—joyfully and willingly—to come to Christ. This radical change in one's desires and affections is a definitive evidence of regeneration and serves as a reminder of God’s sovereign grace.
