How do we know that God grants us the ability to obey His commands?

Answered in 1 source

God grants us the ability to obey through His sovereign grace, as demonstrated in biblical examples.

The assurance that God grants us the ability to obey His commands is central to the Reformed understanding of grace. In the sermon, the example of the man with the withered hand illustrates that true obedience comes not from within ourselves but from God's command. When Jesus commanded the man to stretch forth his hand, the ability to do so was given alongside the command. Similarly, when God commands us to believe or repent, He provides the grace and ability to do so. This is supported by biblical passages such as Matthew 19, where it states that with God, all things are possible, including the ability to obey His commands. Furthermore, 1 Thessalonians reassures us of God’s faithfulness to not only call us but also to empower us to fulfill His commands, indicating that our obedience is a product of His working within us.
