How do we know that God has given us the authority to preach?

Answered in 1 source

Believers are empowered by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the gospel with divine authority.

In Acts 1:8, Jesus assures His disciples that they will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them, enabling them to be His witnesses. The authority to preach comes from God Himself. Peter's unwavering commitment to preach, regardless of the listener's identity or potential outcome, shows that true preachers are driven by divine authority rather than personal ambition or worldly approval. This authority is rooted in God's command and the work of the Holy Spirit.
