How do we know that God hates lies?

God's hatred for lies is explicitly laid out in Scripture, particularly in Proverbs. Proverbs 6:16-19 lists lying and false witnessing among the seven things that the Lord finds abominable. This condemnation shows that lies are not just peripheral sins; they strike at the heart of God's righteousness. For instance, lying is considered so heinous that it is viewed as an assault against the very nature of Christ, who identifies Himself as the truth (John 14:6). When we lie, we oppose God's work of setting sinners free, which is His ultimate purpose in creation and redemption.
