How do we know that God holds nations accountable for neglecting privileges?

Answered in 1 source

God's judgment on Israel historically serves as a clear example of His accountability expectations for nations that misuse their privileges.

As seen in the parable, God’s patience with Israel eventually wore thin due to their unfaithfulness and neglect of the privileges He provided. The destruction of Jerusalem and the scattering of the Jewish people illustrate a divine chastisement for their failure to produce fruit in accordance with God's expectations (Matthew 21:33-46). This serves as a sobering reminder that nations and churches which fail to live up to their light and neglect the abundant mercies granted by God can face severe consequences. Over the last two millennia, we observe various instances where God's judgment has retreated from certain churches and nations actively engaging in unfruitfulness.

This biblical precedent compels believers to intercede for their land and remain vigilant against spiritual complacency. Reflecting on the historical consequences faced by Israel sets the stage for us to evaluate our own societal conditions and to foster a sense of urgency regarding our faithfulness to God amidst unprecedented privileges and knowledge. Thus, it is evident that we must not disregard our responsibilities before God.
