How do we know that God holds sinners responsible for their actions?

Answered in 1 source

Sinners are held responsible because they possess the ability to choose between good and evil, though their sinful nature distorts that ability.

God holds sinners accountable for their actions because they are created in His image with the capacity to recognize right from wrong. The distinction lies in the moral and spiritual inability they face due to sin. Romans 8:7 states that the carnal mind is enmity against God and unable to submit to His law. Still, humans are responsible for their choices because they freely choose to act contrary to God's command, utilizing their natural faculties against their created purpose.
