How do we know that God is good even in difficult circumstances?

Answered in 1 source

God's goodness is affirmed in Scripture, demonstrating that every event, even painful ones, serve a purpose in His redemptive plan.

Understanding God's goodness amidst trials can be challenging. Romans 8:28 assures us that God works all things for good, which indicates that even the most distressing events are under His sovereign control. When parents struggle with loss and heartache, like Jacob did in Genesis 42:36, they may see only pain. However, the overarching narrative of Scripture reveals a God who is supremely good and just. God's intentions are higher than our immediate understanding. For instance, even the painful experiences of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob ultimately contributed to God's purpose of redemption, showcasing that God is working behind the scenes for a greater good that often transcends our understanding.
