How do we know that God is in control of evil?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible reveals that God is sovereign over all, including the existence and events surrounding evil.

God's sovereignty extends even over evil actions, demonstrating that He controls their occurrence while allowing human freedom. Genesis 50:20 illustrates this with Joseph's story, where he acknowledges to his brothers that despite their malicious intent in selling him into slavery, 'God meant it for good.' This means that while actions may appear evil, God utilizes them to fulfill His sovereign plan. Furthermore, the murder of Christ, the most heinous act in history, was executed by wicked hands but was determined by the 'foreknowledge of God' (Acts 2:23). Thus, we understand that God, while never the author of sin, is the ultimate cause of events, using them for His purposes.
