How do we know that God is in control of worldly governments?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible shows that God ordains and uses earthly governments, even those ruled by evil, to fulfill His sovereign purposes.

Scripture consistently reveals that God is sovereign over all creation, including worldly governments. In Revelation 13, the beast that opposes God's people is empowered by Satan, yet this empowerment occurs under God's permissive will. Historical instances, such as the rise and fall of empires, demonstrate that while Satan attempts to wield influence through these governments for the harm of the Church, God remains ultimately sovereign, using these events for His glory and the good of His people. Romans 13 further clarifies that all authority comes from God, and thus, even corrupt rulers serve His purposes without compromising His righteousness.
