How do we know that God is our friend?

Answered in 1 source

We know God is our friend through His promises, our faith in Christ, and the assurance of His love taught in Scripture.

The assurance that God is our friend stems from understanding our position in Christ. Romans 5:8 states, 'But God commended His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.' This sacrificial love is the ultimate demonstration of friendship and care. Additionally, the Scriptures affirm that God is immutable, meaning He cannot lie and His promises are assured. When we trust in Christ and believe God, we are declared righteous and recognized as His friends (James 2:23). Our assurance is rooted in the certainty of God's faithful character and His love for us.
