How do we know that God is present when we gather for worship?

Answered in 1 source

God promises His presence in the midst of His gathered people, as stated in Scripture.

The assurance of God's presence during worship is rooted in His promises found in Scripture. Matt 18:20 states, 'For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.' This promise is echoed in Psalm 122, where David expresses joy at the invitation to go into the house of the Lord, signifying a place where God's presence dwells among His people. Therefore, the act of gathering in faith invokes the promise that God is with us, guiding and comforting us through worship, prayer, and the proclamation of His Word.
