How do we know that God is responsible for our spiritual growth?

Answered in 1 source

God is the one who gives the increase in spiritual growth, as He is the one who brings about faith through the preaching of the Gospel.

The Apostle Paul clearly articulates in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 that human efforts in ministry, such as planting and watering, are important, but it is ultimately God who gives the growth. This fundamental truth highlights the sovereignty of God in the process of spiritual development. No one can claim credit for the faith that arises in a believer's heart, as it is the effectual calling of God that draws people to Himself. This understanding fosters humility among believers and leaders alike, reminding us that all efforts in ministry are rooted in God's initiative and grace. The implication is that our focus should remain on faithfully proclaiming the Gospel while relying on God for the results.
