How do we know that God is self-sufficient?

Answered in 2 sources

Scripture reveals that God is self-sufficient through His creation and His independence from it.

The concept of God's self-sufficiency is rooted in the understanding that He exists apart from His creation. In John 4:24, Jesus states, 'God is spirit,' indicating His nature is not dependent on physical sustenance nor the existence of creation. He possesses all attributes of perfection independently and relies on nothing outside Himself. Isaiah 40:15 illustrates God's sovereignty over nations, stating they are 'as a drop in the bucket' compared to Him. Thus, God's self-sufficiency affirms His ultimate authority and the fact that all creation exists to reflect His glory without adding to it.
