How do we know that God is sovereign and in control?

Answered in 1 source

We know God is sovereign because the Scriptures affirm His power and authority over all creation and His ability to intervene in our lives.

God's sovereignty is a central tenet in Reformed theology, illustrated in Psalm 57:2 where David claims, 'Unto God that performeth all things for me.' This indicates not only that God is above all but that He orchestrates events according to His perfect will. As believers, we can rest assured that our trials and tribulations are under His control, providing a source of comfort as seen in verse 1, where David seeks refuge in the shadow of God's wings. This assurance reinforces our faith, knowing that God oversees every aspect of our lives and His decrees are unchanging and unfailing.
