How do we know that God is sovereign over nations?

Answered in 3 sources

Scripture reveals God's sovereignty as He raises and brings down rulers according to His divine purpose, exemplified in His dealings with Pharaoh in Egypt.

God's sovereignty is evident throughout Scripture, particularly in His judgment of nations like Egypt. In Exodus, we see that God specifically raised Pharaoh to demonstrate His power and declare His name throughout the earth (Exodus 9:16). This highlights that God is in complete control of history and the affairs of nations, using even the most powerful leaders to bring about His will. His long-suffering and just character demonstrates that He does not overlook sin while still mediating His mercy to His chosen people, ensuring that His justice prevails ultimately. Sovereignty, then, means that God orchestrates all events in a way that glorifies Himself, showing that no earthly power can stand against His will.
