How do we know that God is sovereign over our choices?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture shows that God's sovereignty encompasses human choices while ultimately directing them for His purpose, as seen in Jonah's flight to Tarshish.

In the narrative of Jonah, we see a clear portrayal of God's sovereignty over human actions and choices. Despite Jonah’s decision to flee from God's command, the events that follow demonstrate that his rebellion is neither outside of God's control nor His plan. The storm that arises and the prepared fish signify God's active involvement in orchestrating circumstances that lead Jonah to repentance and fulfillment of his prophetic duty. Romans 8:28 reminds us that all things work together for good for those who love God. Thus, even when we choose paths contrary to God’s revealed will, His sovereign hand guides the outcomes to align with His eternal purposes.
