How do we know that God is unique and not an idol?

Answered in 1 source

The uniqueness of God is evident through His attributes and actions, which set Him apart from all idols created by man.

God's uniqueness is affirmed in Scripture, where He is described as holy, eternal, and sovereign. In Isaiah 40:18, it asks rhetorically, 'To whom then will you liken God?' This drives home the point that nothing in creation can adequately represent Him. Unlike idols made of silver and gold, which are lifeless, God actively governs the universe and reveals Himself through Scripture and creation. Additionally, Colossians 1:16-17 states that all things were created through and for Christ, underscoring His preeminence and the futility of creating images to represent Him. Understanding God's distinctiveness from idols helps believers worship Him in spirit and truth.
