How do we know that God looks on us with mercy?

Answered in 1 source

God's mercy is demonstrated through Christ's sacrifice, which reconciles us to Him despite our sinfulness.

Job's question, 'Dost thou open thine eyes upon such a one?' in Job 14:3 reflects a profound sense of humility and recognition of humanity's insignificance and sinfulness. Despite this, God's mercy is revealed through His Son, Jesus Christ, who bore our sins and the consequences of divine justice on our behalf. Romans 5:8 declares that 'while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,' showing that God’s love and mercy for humanity are rooted in the redemptive work of Christ. As believers, we have assurance that God looks on us with favor when we are in Christ and that His mercy covers our sins.
