How do we know that God looks upon the humble?

Answered in 1 source

God looks favorably upon the humble because they acknowledge their need for Him and tremble at His word.

In Isaiah 66:2, God specifies that He will look to the one who is poor and of a contrite spirit. This humility reflects a recognition of our dependence on God and our own inadequacies. The Scriptures repeatedly affirm that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). A humble heart is not just aware of its failures but is also eager to seek God’s mercy and to walk in His ways. The recognition of our spiritual bankruptcy leads us to a genuine relationship with God, underlining why He favors the humble.
